Who are the "Young at Heart"?

We are a group of seniors that meet the second Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. for fun, food, and fellowship. Our meetings usually consist of a devotional, business meeting, a game or two, and a program, then lunch. Occasionally we go fishing, take various trips, and have an Annual Seniors Banquet.

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you are a member of our church.... you just need to admit to being 55 or over! There is no charge for attendance, but we do recommend a $3.00 offering which is strictly voluntary, and is used to contribute to various mission programs such as the Ronald McDonald House, etc.  Please join us as we stay "Young at Heart".  The motto we wear on our red jackets is Isaiah 40:31...

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles;
They shall run, and not be weary. And they shall walk, and not faint."

Some of our other activities include: Celebrating our birthdays with a gift, card and song.  In months with holidays, we have fun like wearing red in February and select a "King and Queen" for Valentine's Day.  In March, we dress in green for St. Patrick's Day - our oldest senior, 91 years young, wore 17 different articles of green in 2010, including green shoestrings!  What a great sport she was - it is always a good time!  We've gone fishing at Colson's Pond, where we catch, clean and fry up our fresh catch of the day - everyone brings a covered dish, sweets and drinks for a fun filled day of wonderful fellowship.

We've been on trips to visit the Georgia Aquarium and to Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church in Macon for a Grand Ole Opry Gospel night.  We have also visited the Center for Wildlife Education and the Lamar Q. Ball Raptor Center at Georgia Southern University.  We enjoyed a marvilous show and dinner on the General Jackson Showboat in Nashville, Tennessee.  We also went to the Grand Ole Opry and Dollywood!  We've seen so many fabulous shows and eaten at some of the best restaurants! One of our favorite trips was to Orlando, Florida for The Holy Land Experience.  We hope to not slow down any time soon - we've always got plans in the making!

From our hearts to yours, God has great things in store for you, so listen to your heart and come join us for fellowship!
